Minnesota Statutes § 514.011 Subdivision 2 mandates that a Subcontractor on a commercial or residential project must deliver a Subcontractor's
Pre-Lien Notice to both the Owner and General/Prime Contractor within
45 days of first supplying materials, labor or equipment to a project.
The Notice should be delivered in person or by Certified Mail to the Owner
of the property and the General/Prime Contractor along with any other
legal parties related to the improvement of the property (Customer, Lender).

Minnesota Statutes § 514.08 mandates thatyou
must file a Mechanic's Lien Statement with the County Recorders Office
in the County where the project occurred. It must be filed within 120
days after the completion of providing labor, rental equipment, or materials.
